Victor Peter was a French medalist and sculptor (1840-1918) residing at Paris ; pupil of Devaulx, and Sebastien Cornu. He worked for Alexandre Falguière, Paul Dubois, and Antonin Mercié. He began to exhibit at the Paris Salon in 1868, and won his first medal in 1879. At the Universal Exhibition of 1900, he was awarded a gold medal, and decorated with the Legion of Honour.
