Bentley Manor was built around 1300 but the Bentley Estate did not come into being until William Hemming bought it in the 1830s. Mrs. Cheape, known as the "Squire of Bentley", was Williams grandaughter and well known for her love of hunting. The house was demolished in the 1950s.
